Diwaniyah Provincial Council Expresses Frustration Over Electricity Shortages

Diwaniyah: The Diwaniyah Provincial Council has voiced its frustration over the Ministry of Electricity's unfulfilled promises, which have left the local government unable to ensure a stable electricity supply. Despite numerous demands and communications, the council reports that the ministry and its officials have failed to deliver on their commitments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, council member Khudair al-Mayahi highlighted the ministry's tendency to prioritize provinces experiencing active protests, such as Wasit, Basra, and Nasiriyah, by ensuring these areas receive their allocated share of electricity. This policy has left Diwaniyah facing power outages of up to four hours, with electricity available for only one and a half hours. The situation is particularly challenging as residents endure soaring temperatures.

The ongoing electricity shortages have sparked discontent among the residents and local officials alike, putting pressure on the Ministry of Electricity to take immediate action and provide equitable distribution of electricity across all provinces.
