Baqubah: Diyala Police Command revealed the details of the fake kidnapping incident that took place in the city of Baqubah, the center of the province.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Brigadier General Haitham Al-Shammari, Director of Media for Diyala Police, informed that the incident began when the wife of a person called via the rapid response number 911. She reported that her husband, who is from Baghdad, was allegedly kidnapped near Al-Razi Bridge, west of Baqubah.
A specialized team was formed immediately to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Initial investigations revealed that the husband had conspired with a friend to fabricate the kidnapping story, falsely informing his wife about the abduction.
The security forces subsequently arrested both the husband and his friend on charges of false reporting. It was emphasized that no actual kidnapping took place, but rather it was a case of false claims and a fake kidnapping.
Legal measures have been taken against the individuals involved, and the case has been referred to the Iraqi judiciary for further proceedings.
