Diyala: A faculty member at Diyala University’s College of Engineering, in collaboration with a research team from Ural Federal University in the Russian Federation, has obtained three patents in the field of civil engineering and modern construction technologies.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ali Abdul Hussein, Director of Media at Diyala University, announced that Lecturer Aghadir Ahmed Abbas secured these patents. The first patent is titled “Method for Installing Column Beams, Precast Reinforced Concrete Beams, and Integrated Components for Their Implementation.” The second patent is named “Method for Installing Floor Slabs Between Floors in a Multi-Story Building,” and the third one involves “Precast Reinforced Concrete Wall Panels and Method for Installing Wall Panels on the Second and Subsequent Floors.”
These patents represent an innovative system for constructing precast concrete buildings. They introduce developments in column-beam connections and a method for mechanically installing wall panels on upper floors without welding. This system employs integrated metal components and screws to ensure precise alignment and enhance structural stability. Additionally, the patents describe a mechanical fixing mechanism for roof and floor slabs using threaded rods and metal pipes, which are connected with nuts to adjacent walls, contributing to structural reinforcement and reduced construction time.
The achievement underscores the significance of international research collaboration in fostering innovation, exchanging scientific expertise, and developing modern engineering solutions. This contributes to the College of Engineering at Diyala University’s presence in international research and innovation domains.
The accomplishment aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), by supporting engineering innovation and developing more efficient and sustainable construction technologies and systems.
