Diyala University Ranks Fourth Among Iraqi Public Universities in Global Webometrics Ranking


Diyala: Diyala University has achieved a new academic milestone, adding to its ongoing successes, by ranking fourth among Iraqi public universities in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. This ranking places it among 126 Iraqi universities included in the classification, and globally, it ranked 1843rd out of more than 32,000 higher education institutions worldwide.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Diyala University’s local ranking follows that of the University of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya University, and the University of Technology, reflecting the university’s growing development in scientific research, academic performance, and its enhanced digital presence both locally and internationally.



The President of Diyala University, Tahseen Hussein Mubarak, confirmed to a correspondent from the Iraqi National News Agency (NINA): “This achievement represents the fruit of the strategic vision adopted by the university in developing its academic and research system and working as a unified team.” He pointed out that the university is moving steadily towards establishing a culture of quality and institutional accreditation, raising the level of international scientific publications, and enhancing its presence in global rankings in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.



He added: “The university will continue to implement its development programs and plans aimed at providing an academic and research environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, and optimally invests in scientific capabilities, which contributes to strengthening the position of Diyala University as a reputable educational institution capable of competing regionally and globally.”



The Webometrics Ranking is one of the most prominent global university rankings, issued by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). It evaluates universities based on three main indicators: online visibility (50%), research excellence, and research presence with a percentage of (40%), and scientific openness (10%), based on reliable global databases and indicators.
