Baghdad: The Directorate of Military Intelligence-DMI announced on Friday the arrest of 13 traffickers and promoters of narcotic substances, including two women, in separate areas of the capital, Baghdad.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the directorate stated that as part of joint intelligence and security cooperation and coordination with the security agencies operating within the Baghdad Operations Command’s area of responsibility, and based on precise intelligence received by the Intelligence and Security Department of the Baghdad Operations Command, joint detachments, with the participation of Military Intelligence personnel, managed to set up surprise checkpoints in separate areas of the capital, Baghdad.

The statement explained that these operations resulted in the arrest of 13 traffickers and promoters of narcotic substances, including two women, and narcotic substances were seized in their possession.

It added that the necessary legal measures were taken against the accused, and they were handed over to the competent authorities to complete the investigative procedures and refer them to the judiciary, so that they may receive their due punishment in accordance with the law.
