Tehran: The foreign exchange and gold market in Iran witnessed a significant increase in prices again on Saturday, with the tightening of sanctions on the country, a step taken by US President Donald Trump by issuing an executive order to continue the policy of maximum pressure and impose sanctions on Iranian oil exports.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the latest reports from Ferdowsi Street in Tehran, which is one of the largest streets that includes exchange centers in Iran, indicate that the price of the US dollar in the open market reached 89,100 tomans, while the euro crossed the 92,000 tomans barrier and is trading at 92,150 tomans.
The British pound also recorded an increase to reach 109,500 tomans. In the gold market, the price of one gold coin rose to 73,810,000 tomans.
This comes despite the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s renewed rejection of negotiations with the United States in a speech he delivered yesterday, stressing that “negotiations with the United States will only bring
harm.”
