Diwaniyah: The Diwaniyah Governorate Police Directorate announced the dismantling of a drug trafficking and distribution network, the arrest of 16 suspects, and the seizure of 2 kg of narcotics and various weapons.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Diwaniyah Police reported that the most dangerous wanted man, who was the mastermind behind the drug distribution operation in Diwaniyah, was apprehended. He had been holed up in a location he considered safe, possessing light weapons and several hand grenades intended for use against security forces. However, he was unable to use them due to the surprise attack and subsequent arrest.

The police statement further detailed that the force assigned to the operation managed to arrest all 16 members of the network after a 72-hour operation. This effort resulted in the seizure of two types of narcotics weighing 2 kg, along with drug paraphernalia and scales related to the crime. The suspects and the seized materials have been referred to the judiciary to face justice.
