Egyptian President Calls for Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid in Gaza and Lebanon

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi urged an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of a ceasefire, the exchange of hostages, and the immediate implementation of humanitarian aid. His remarks were made during a meeting on Saturday with a delegation from the US House of Representatives, which included members from both major political parties and was led by Representative Tom Cole, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. The meeting was also attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati. According to National News Agency-Lebanon, Ambassador Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Egyptian presidency, reported that discussions during the meeting centered on the current regional situation. The congressional delegation expressed a keen interest in President Sisi's perspective on restoring peace and security in the area and avoiding an escalation that could lead to a wider regional conflict. In his dialogue with the US delegation, President Sisi under scored the urgency of halting the war in both Gaza and Lebanon. He highlighted the need for robust actions towards achieving a ceasefire, facilitating the exchange of hostages, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid on a scale sufficient to address the humanitarian crisis, which continues to deteriorate.
