Eight Containers Intended for Smuggling Seized at Umm Qasr Central Port


Umm qasr: Eight containers intended for smuggling were seized at the Umm Qasr Central Port. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Border Ports Authority announced the seizure of these containers, which were found to be in violation of regulations.



In a statement, the Authority detailed that the Umm Qasr Central Port Directorate intercepted eight 40-cubic-foot containers. Upon inspection, it was revealed that seven of the containers held bicycle spare parts, which are prohibited from import and suspected to be intended for smuggling, while one container contained used tires.



The statement further explained that the seizure was executed in cooperation with the Customs Center and the port’s Customs Police. A formal report was prepared, and the containers were referred to the Umm Qasr Central Customs Police Station. The matter will be presented before the Umm Qasr Investigative Court judge to hold those responsible accountable.
