Engineers and Scientists in Basra Renew Protests for Employment Opportunities

Basra: Engineers and science graduates in Basra have reignited their peaceful protests, demanding job opportunities and government contracts within the lucrative oil sector.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the demonstrators organized a peaceful march that commenced at the Basra Oil Company and continued to the Al-Makina area. They are appealing to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Oil, and local representatives to urgently address their employment concerns and make use of their skills, which have remained untapped years after their graduation.

The protestors emphasize the need for immediate intervention from the government to facilitate their absorption into the oil industry, a sector that is both crucial and profitable in the region. The demonstrators believe that their expertise as engineers and scientists can significantly contribute to the industry’s growth and development.
