Baghdad: The Department of Studies and Development of Youth Cadres and Leaders – National Youth Observatory Division, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, organized a seminar entitled ‘Protecting the Environment and Sustaining Natural Resources: Challenges and Solutions.’ The seminar was presented by Dr. Nasreen Samir Jabbar, Director of the Research and Studies Center, and was moderated by Dr. Najm Abdul Mutashar from the Department of Physical Education, along with Nabaa Najm, Head of the Joint Center for Coordination and Monitoring Division. A number of young people, athletes, and prominent social figures attended the event.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the seminar discussed and analyzed data from a field observation study titled ‘Monitoring the Environmental Behavior of Youth in the Face of Desertification and Water Scarcity.’ The study highlights the level of awareness and environmental behavior among young people, the most prominent challenges related to desertification and water scarcity, and the importance of promoting practices that contribute to preserving natural resources.
The seminar also addressed the role of sports in promoting environmental awareness. It emphasized encouraging young people to participate in sports activities in open environments, maintaining the cleanliness of stadiums, sports facilities, and public spaces, and instilling positive environmental behaviors in athletes and youth.
