Sydney: Ethiopian runner Addisu Jobina broke the Sydney International Marathon record after winning first place in the men’s category, while Kenyan runner Peris Jepchirchir won the women’s title. Jobina completed the race in 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 42 seconds, surpassing the previous record set by his compatriot Hailemariam Kiros in last year’s race, which was 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 6 seconds. Ethiopian Chemdesa Debel came in second with a time of 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 46 seconds, while Tapelo Ramakonjowana of Lesotho took third place with a time of 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 57 seconds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in the women’s competition, Kenyan Peris Jepchirchir took first place with a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes, and 31 seconds, ahead of her compatriot Irene Cheptay, who finished second with a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 11 seconds. Ethiopian Shor Demais came in third with a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 33 seconds.
