Basra: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, on Thursday called for urgent security measures on roads used by Arbaeen pilgrims, while extending condolences to victims of a recent car-ramming incident in Basra.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan's media office released a statement expressing his profound sorrow over the incident that resulted in the loss of lives of pilgrims traveling to Karbala for the Arbaeen commemoration. The statement conveyed Faihan's heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the Iraqi public, with prayers for the deceased and wishes for a swift recovery for the injured.
Faihan urged relevant authorities to implement immediate traffic and technical measures to secure the pilgrimage routes, especially the outer roads leading to Karbala. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of visitors and preventing similar tragic occurrences in the future.
