Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives Adnan Fayhan Al-Dulaimi emphasized on Friday that the Baghdad International Book Fair exemplifies Iraq’s re-emergence in the cultural and intellectual domains.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the First Deputy Speaker released a statement highlighting Fayhan’s visit to the 27th Baghdad International Book Fair. Accompanied by several parliament members, he explored the event’s pavilions, reviewed cultural activities, and examined new publications from Iraqi, Arab, and international publishers.

Fayhan remarked that the fair sends a definitive message about Iraq reclaiming its cultural and intellectual prominence. He reflected on Iraq’s historical association with books and knowledge, referencing ancient civilizations such as Babylon and Assyria, which contributed significantly to human heritage and civilization.

The First Deputy Speaker reiterated the legislature’s commitment to supporting cultural events like the book fair. This support aims to enhance Iraq’s stature and re-establish its leadership in promoting knowledge, thought, and culture.
