Baghdad: The Federal Court has ruled to dismiss the lawsuits filed against the Kurdistan Regional Government concerning the ownership of government properties. This decision was made during the court’s session held on Wednesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the lawsuits were initiated by the Federal Minister of Finance, the Director of Rafidain Bank, the Director of Rasheed Bank, and the Director General of the National Insurance Company, all acting in their official capacities. The legal action challenged the constitutionality of Resolution No. (3326) issued in 1992, which concerns the registration and transfer of ownership of government properties and buildings in the region to the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The plaintiffs sought the annulment of the resolution, arguing it was unconstitutional. However, the Federal Court ruled to dismiss the lawsuits, citing a lack of jurisdiction over the matter, thereby allowing the original resolution to stand.
