Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadiq, to inquire about the publication of maps of the region by some Iranian diplomatic missions abroad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a press release that the Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, Ambassador Shorsh Khaled Saeed, engaged with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss the maps and accompanying statements and comments that do not reflect the depth of the relationship between the two countries.

The Undersecretary emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination between the two sides regarding current developments and their impacts on the countries of the region, particularly Iraq. He highlighted the necessity of addressing outstanding regional disputes and issues through diplomatic channels and dialogue to strengthen regional security and stability.

The two sides also explored ways to bolster bilateral relations t
hrough reciprocal visits and enhanced coordination in international forums and organizations. They discussed developing frameworks for cooperation in the political, economic, and security fields to serve the common interests of both countries and their peoples.

The Iranian ambassador affirmed his country’s readiness to continue cooperation and coordination with Iraq in various fields, noting the depth of historical and social ties binding the two nations and the importance of ongoing meetings and consultations on issues of mutual interest.
