Iran Announces Sanctions Against British Military and Intelligence Services

Tehran:Iran’s Foreign Ministry has declared new sanctions against British intelligence and military entities. The move comes as a response to what Tehran labels as the British government’s hostile policies, support for U.S. military actions against Iran, and the inclusion of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) under the Government Threats Act by London.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the measures were decided by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and made public through the official IRNA news agency.

The retaliatory actions involve labeling Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) as a hostile entity, thereby subjecting it to penalties under laws addressing espionage and cooperation with Israel and other countries deemed hostile to Iran. Additionally, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force have been designated as terrorist organizations, following the U.S.’s classification of the IRGC as a terrorist entity.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry argues that Britain’s military and logistical support through its bases and facilities contravenes the United Nations Charter and international law on state sovereignty. The ministry insists that London is fully responsible for any outcomes arising from these decisions, emphasizing that the measures are a reciprocal step to protect Iran’s national security.
