Jordan Intercepts Attempt to Smuggle Two Million Narcotic Pills at Syrian Border

Amman:Jordan has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle two million narcotic pills through the Jaber border crossing with Syria.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate, in coordination with customs and other relevant authorities, intercepted the smuggling attempt. The officials became suspicious of a freight vehicle after receiving information that led to its seizure as it tried to enter the country.

The narcotic pills were found hidden in secret compartments within the vehicle’s structure, and they were intended for further smuggling into a neighboring country. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

This operation is part of a broader increase in drug-smuggling attempts across the Syrian-Jordanian border since 2021. These efforts have seen repeated interceptions at the Jaber crossing and other border areas throughout 2024 and 2025.
