Baghdad: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi that many German companies are undertaking pioneering work in Iraq. He highlighted the significant contributions made by these companies in various sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Merz added that discussions were held on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz with Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. This conversation underscores the strategic importance of the region for both nations.

Merz also noted that the Iraqi government has taken important steps in combating corruption. He expressed Germany’s readiness to cooperate with Iraq in the military field, indicating a potential area for bilateral collaboration.
