GIZ: We support the private sector and create job opportunities, and these are our upcoming projects in Iraq

Baghdad / NINA / – The German Agency for International Cooperation confirmed its support for the Iraqi government to develop the private sector and create job opportunities, as it disclosed its upcoming projects in Iraq.

The Director of Economic Projects Coordination of the German Agency for International Cooperation, Yona Brucher, said, during the official announcement of the launch of the “Mihan” platform to employ workers in the private sector, today, Wednesday, in the center of the capital, Baghdad, that “the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) began developing the private sector and employment projects since 2017, with funding and cooperation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and the European Union.

He explained, “GIZ has pursued great development of skills, development of entrepreneurship and advisory services for companies, and we have worked with our partners to develop conditions for economic growth policy and create an environment for job opportunities.”

He added, “There was a gap between the level of skills, and therefore we decided to connect the two sides, and this takes a central role. Therefore, the “Mihan” platform was an excellent opportunity to bridge the gaps and support employment by following up on the priorities of the Ministry of Labor to develop a digital platform for advertising, development and business promotion, (GIZ) provided technical support to reach to this vision.

The German official appreciated the keenness of all the partners who worked together, as well as the Prime Ministry, for their great awareness of the importance of the process and allocating the necessary resources, and their active keenness that the system will work in one sustainable manner .”

He added, “There are more than a million data files that have been analyzed and converted into a single digital file, and we expect the participation of 100 companies using the system, and we hope in the future to grow more.”

He went on to say, “Job seekers can, starting now, identify open job opportunities and develop skills as a result of advertised jobs, and at the same time, labor ministries can use the data to inform policy makers.”

He added, “We intend to support the Iraqi government in other projects, and we believe that launching a careers platform confirms our commitment to setting goals with our partners, and we have other projects in Iraq as well as employment opportunities, as well as financial inclusion, and we are implementing a range of other activities with our government partners to address challenges in jobs and the support of the private sector, and this would not be possible without strong relations with the government.”/ End
