Baghdad: The Human Rights Commission is actively monitoring the situation of the Yazidi community, focusing on the challenges related to their return and stability. A team from the High Commission for Human Rights – Baghdad Office recently conducted a visit to the Yazidi Endowment Directorate, which is part of the Diwan of Endowments for Christian, Yazidi, and Mandaean Religions, to evaluate the current circumstances and challenges faced by the Yazidi community.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the team engaged in discussions with Suleiman Qulu, the Director General of the Directorate, to address the situation of Yazidi families, particularly those who have been displaced. They explored the service and living needs of these families, along with the challenges associated with their voluntary return to Sinjar District. The team highlighted the ongoing presence of a significant number of Yazidi families in camps located in Duhok Governorate and pointed out challenges in completing property transactions in Sinjar. They emphasized the necessity of implementing measures to ensure the rights of the Yazidi community and to support their safe and stable return.

Efforts are also being made to strengthen social and cultural ties within the Yazidi community. The team underscored the importance of initiatives that foster peaceful coexistence and social cohesion. The Commission’s office is committed to continuing its monitoring efforts, addressing the challenges faced by the Yazidi community, and observing government responses to ensure their rights are protected and conditions for their return and dignified living are improved.
