Baghdad: The Independent High Electoral Commission has announced that it has received data from its employees to conduct a test and simulation of the use of the national card in the upcoming electoral process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission stated in a press release that data from a number of employees was collected as a sample to complete the feasibility study of adopting the unified national identity card in the upcoming elections. The necessary technical tests and simulations are set to be conducted during a meeting focused on the adoption of the national identity card, which was held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the National Office. Attendees included Judge Fayyad Yassin Hussein, Head of the Supervisory Committee for the Technical and Legal Committee for the Use of the National Identity Card in Voting, and Major General Bilal Rasen Obeid, Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, along with other ministry representatives.

The Commission also highlighted that it received data from 50 employees to prepare for a practical test and simulation of the voting process using the unified national identity card. This initiative aims to establish the technical and procedural requirements necessary for implementation. The effort is part of ongoing cooperation and coordination between the Independent High Electoral Commission and the Ministry of Interior to finalize the technical and legal requirements for using the national identity card in the forthcoming elections.
