Al-muthanna: The Federal Integrity Commission has announced the arrest of five individuals linked to the Resident Engineer’s Office for the Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital project in Muthanna Governorate. They are accused of deliberately causing financial damage and harming the interests of their employer.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission’s statement revealed that a team from the Muthanna Investigation Office discovered legal and technical violations in the hospital’s rehabilitation project in Samawah. The statement detailed that arrest warrants were executed for three engineers and two surveyors from the Resident Engineer’s Office, citing irregularities in cost estimates and price quotations.

The Commission further reported delays in the project’s execution, despite a contractual amendment and a four-month extension. It was noted that some completed works, like the cooling units, had stopped working, adversely affecting service delivery to both outpatients and inpatients.

A formal report was compiled and submitted along with the accused to the judge at the Integrity Investigation Court in Muthanna. The judge subsequently ordered their detention under Article 340 of the Penal Code.
