Integrity Commission Arrests Two Employees Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribes in Karbala Municipality


Karbala: The Federal Integrity Commission reported that its staff in Karbala Governorate arrested two employees working in the municipality directorate, caught red-handed while receiving a bribe from a citizen.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the commission stated in a press release: “The team formed in the Karbala Investigation Office set a trap for two employees of the Violations Department in the Municipality Directorate, and caught them in the act of soliciting and receiving a bribe from a person in exchange for allowing him to complete the construction of his house located in a neighborhood whose land is classified as ‘agricultural’.”



The commission added that a formal arrest report was prepared and presented, along with the accused, to the judge of the specialized Integrity Court in Karbala, who ordered their detention in accordance with the provisions of Resolution (160 of 1983), after recording and judicially ratifying their statements.
