Kirkuk: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a verdict in absentia sentencing the former assistant director of the Kirkuk Real Estate Registration Directorate to two years of rigorous imprisonment for deliberately causing damage to state funds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission, in discussing the case it investigated and referred to the judiciary, stated: “The Kirkuk Criminal Court/Second Panel issued a verdict in absentia against the former assistant director of the Kirkuk Real Estate Registration Directorate, sentencing her to two years of rigorous imprisonment for the crime of deliberately damaging public funds. The verdict was issued in accordance with Article (340) of the Penal Code, and in conjunction with Articles (47, 48, and 49) concerning complicity.”

The Commission added that the convicted individual facilitated the sale of a property and falsified its registration number, exploiting her official position. It clarified that the property originally belonged to the Kirkuk Municipality Directorate. This resulted in deliberate damage to state funds. The court noted that it was fully convinced of the defendant’s guilt after reviewing the evidence and proofs obtained in the case, which it found sufficient for conviction and issuing a ruling against her in accordance with the relevant article of law.
