Nasiriyah: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the discovery of a network involved in manipulation and forgery related to the allocation and ownership of several properties in the Nasiriyah Municipality Directorate. The Commission indicated that it had seized the original allocation document, which included the ownership of 104 prime properties, each valued at approximately 100 million dinars.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the procedures for allocating and transferring ownership of these properties were marred by forgery, manipulation, and violations of regulations and instructions. It explained that its personnel had previously seized 30 ownership transactions as crucial evidence in the case, before continuing their investigation and audit of the remaining related transactions. This resulted in the seizure of 12 additional original ownership transactions in the Nasiriyah Municipality Directorate, further strengthening the evidence in the case.

The Commission added that its personnel executed arrest warrants issued against the former director of the Nasiriyah Municipality and several negligent employees, in accordance with Article (340) of the Penal Code. It noted that the accused are currently detained in connection with other corruption cases.

The commission indicated that a hold has been placed on all 104 prime properties included in the case, with a total estimated value of approximately 10.4 billion dinars. It explained that this measure was taken “to protect public funds and prevent their disposal until the legal and judicial procedures related to the case are concluded.”
