Interior Ministry Highlights Security and Crime Decline in Diyala

Diyala:Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Hussein al-Awadi confirmed that the security situation in Diyala Province is showing clear stability with a decline in crime rates.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Awadi made these remarks during a visit to Diyala, where he met with local officials including the Governor and members of the Provincial Council. The discussions focused on the province’s stable security environment and reduced crime levels.

Al-Awadi emphasized that the Ministry of Interior is committed to reducing crime and enhancing security across all Iraqi provinces. The ministry has initiated preparations to take control of the security responsibilities in various provinces and has already assumed this role in six provinces. There is a strategic plan and timetable for assuming security duties in the remaining provinces, with Nineveh being prioritized.

He also highlighted the importance of field visits to assess security conditions and develop appropriate strategies. In Diyala, there is notable cooperation between the Police Command, the provincial administration, and the Provincial Council, which contributes positively to regional security.

The visit included reviewing local Ministry of Interior formations and engaging with judiciary officials and families affected by violence. This was part of the ministry’s efforts to identify security priorities and prepare for the transition of security responsibilities in the province.

The Ministry of Interior remains focused on its core mission of maintaining internal security and striving for stability throughout Iraq.
