Iran Receives Messages on New Security Arrangements from Neighbors

Baghdad: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf revealed that Tehran has received messages from several neighboring countries regarding the formulation of new security arrangements and the strengthening of economic cooperation. This development comes as Iran seeks to reorganize its regional relations amidst the rapid transformations occurring within the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghalibaf’s statements align with Iranian efforts to enhance coordination with neighboring countries, especially Iraq, on security, economic, and energy issues. This initiative is set against the backdrop of an increasing discourse in Tehran emphasizing the importance of constructing a regional system that is more reliant on the countries within the region and less influenced by foreign interference.

Ghalibaf noted that the messages received from neighboring countries indicate their interest in establishing new security arrangements, which could lead to a new era of regional cooperation. These developments coincide with Ghalibaf’s visit to Baghdad, where discussions focused on border security, combating terrorism, regional developments, strengthening economic relations, and implementing joint agreements between the two nations.

The Iranian perspective suggests that regional cooperation could provide the foundation for building new security arrangements, particularly in light of the recent tensions in the area and the increasing concerns about potential wider confrontations.
