Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf announced that Iran successfully thwarted an American plan to launch a military operation from Iraqi Kurdistan. He stressed the importance of strengthening ties with neighboring countries, especially Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, across political, economic, and security spheres.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghalibaf made these remarks during a meeting with Bafel Talabani, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, in Tehran. During the meeting, Ghalibaf asserted that both the Iranian people and armed forces have shown their capacity to confront the United States and Israel, particularly during conflicts initiated by the US. He emphasized that the Americans “did not anticipate” the level of Iranian resistance.

Ghalibaf further claimed that the United States has faced a military and political defeat, while continuing to attempt to incite tensions and discord in the region. He highlighted that during the recent conflict, the US sought to execute a security and military operation against Iran from Iraqi Kurdistan. However, this plan was thwarted due to the cooperation of regional authorities and the swift response of Iranian armed forces.

The Iranian Parliament Speaker accused both the United States and Israel of trying to stir discord among regional countries, particularly between Iran and Iraq. He cautioned against any efforts to ignite tensions amidst the current geopolitical developments in the region.
