Baghdad: Iraq and Finland have underscored the importance of holding the Joint Economic Committee meeting in Baghdad later this year to expand bilateral cooperation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Shorsh Khalid Saeed met with Finnish Ambassador Antti Putkonen to discuss strengthening relations across various sectors and advancing mutual interests.
Both sides praised the recent visit of Finland’s Minister of the Interior to Baghdad, noting its positive outcomes, particularly in preparing draft memoranda of understanding in the fields of counterterrorism and anti-narcotics cooperation.
They also emphasized the need to broaden economic and investment ties, enhance mutual support for nominations within international organizations, and exchanged views on regional and international developments and their impact on security and stability.
