Tehran: The exchange of prisoners between Iraq and Iran has officially begun. The Iraqi Ambassador to Iran, Yasser Abdul Zahra Al-Hajjaj, announced the start of this significant diplomatic process under the supervision of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Iraqi Embassy in Iran quoted Ambassador Al-Hajjaj as saying, “The prisoner exchange between Iraq and Iran officially begins today with the start of the first phase of the exchange, under the guidance and supervision of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan.” This development marks a crucial step in implementing the agreements signed between the two nations.

Ambassador Al-Hajjaj further elaborated on the discussions held with the Deputy Head of the Judicial Authority, Judge Siraj, regarding the execution of these agreements. The talks also reviewed the outcomes of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council’s visit, aimed at enhancing judicial cooperation and coordination between Iraq and Iran.
