Cairo: Iraq and Lebanon have underscored the need to prevent further escalation and tension in the region. Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji highlighted the significance of this initiative during their meeting.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion took place on the sidelines of the 166th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held in Cairo. The Iraqi Foreign Ministry’s media office released a statement indicating that the ministers focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

The meeting also addressed the rising tensions in the region and their adverse effects, especially concerning energy security and oil supplies. Both ministers agreed on the importance of preventing further escalation and promoting dialogue. The statement emphasized the need for continued discussions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, advocating for diplomatic solutions to ease tensions and bolster regional security and stability.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji expressed his gratitude to Iraq for its ongoing support for Lebanon, praising Iraq’s role in maintaining Lebanon’s security and stability.
