Baghdad: Finance Minister Faleh Sari and South Korea’s Ambassador to Iraq, Lee Jun-il, engaged in discussions regarding the financial framework for an air defense system deal on Wednesday.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting, attended by Chief of Staff of the Army Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah and the South Korean military attach©, focused on the financial procedures and requirements necessary for the deal. The discussion revolved around setting up financing mechanisms to ensure compliance with the contractual obligations within the established legal and financial structures.
The statement from the ministry highlighted Sari’s emphasis on Iraq’s dedication to enhancing its air defense capabilities to safeguard its airspace and ensure national security against potential external threats. The commitment to securing Iraqi sovereignty remains a top priority.
Meanwhile, the Korean delegation underscored the need for ongoing collaboration between the two nations to finalize the procedural aspects of the agreement. They stressed the importance of adhering to the agreed-upon frameworks to ensure the successful implementation of the air defense system deal.
