Iraq and the Netherlands hold the third round of political consultations between the two countries

Baghdad / NINA /- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, chaired today the third political consultation meeting between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The Dutch side was represented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marcel De Vinck, accompanied by the Dutch Ambassador to Baghdad, Hans Sande, and a number of Embassy staff.

During the political consultations, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed issues of common interest between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various political, security, economic, cultural and scientific fields, especially since the Kingdom of the Netherlands has great potential that can be invested in developing non-oil sectors such as: Agriculture and modern technologies in irrigation and water, its management and diplomacy, the sectors of higher education, industry and tourism, which can positively reflect on the creation of job opportunities, especially for young people.

A number of crises and security challenges facing the region were also discussed, especially with regard to existing conflicts, issues of extremism and combating terrorism, stressing the need for concerted regional and international efforts to support stability and security, resorting to the dialogue table and not escalating because of its repercussions on the international arena./ End
