Baghdad: Iraq and the United States reaffirmed their continued commitment to establishing a new phase of security cooperation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah al-Nu'man, stated that high-level American and Iraqi officials convened for technical consultations on November 6, 2025, in Baghdad. These discussions focused on the future of the bilateral security relationship, in line with the 2008 Strategic Framework Agreement and shared national security interests.
Al-Nu'man emphasized that both nations are dedicated to fostering a new phase of security cooperation, aimed at empowering Iraq to ensure its security, while delivering tangible benefits for both the American and Iraqi people.
He further indicated that these high-level consultations will continue over the coming months, with the aim of reinforcing long-term security collaboration and counterterrorism efforts. The focus will also be on supporting the capabilities and readiness of the Iraqi federal security forces, including the Peshmerga forces. This initiative aims to uphold Iraq's sovereignty, combat terrorism, enhance regional stability, and strengthen economic ties between Iraq and the United States.
