Jeddah: The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Safia Taleb Al-Suhail, chaired on Saturday the preparatory meeting of senior officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Jeddah.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Al-Suhail presided over the meeting, which commenced today at the OIC General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah and will continue for three days, with participation from assistant secretaries-general, delegations, and representatives of member states.
The statement highlighted that Iraq welcomed the opportunity to host the OIC member states in Baghdad, Dar Al-Salam, in April 2026.
It was noted that member states extended their congratulations to Iraq on assuming the presidency of the 52nd session, acknowledging the ongoing preparations and commending Iraq, known as the cradle of civilizations, for hosting the session’s proceedings.
The statement concluded that the meeting is part of the ongoing preparations for the convening of the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC member states, aiming to enhance joint coordination and ensure the success of the upcoming council meetings.
