Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced on Monday the dispatch of a committee to Iran’s Semnan province to follow up on the attack against Iraqi students.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry emphasized the importance of providing suitable conditions to guarantee the safety and security of Iraqi citizens in Iran. It commended the measures taken by the Iranian authorities to protect the students. The Ministry’s statement expressed great concern over the attack that occurred at the residence of Iraqi students in Semnan province, perpetrated by a number of Iranian citizens.
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has instructed the Iraqi Embassy in Tehran to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. In response, the embassy has dispatched a committee to assess the students’ well-being and to engage with the relevant Iranian authorities to monitor the ongoing investigation. The Ministry stressed the necessity of taking legal action against those responsible for the attack.
The statement further appreciated the proactive measures taken by the Iranian authorities to ensure the students’ safety and facilitate their transportation to their university for exams. It reiterated the importance of creating an environment that guarantees the safety and security of Iraqi citizens in Iran, emphasizing the need to prevent such incidents from recurring.
