Baghdad: The Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Mahdi Suhr Al-Jubouri, chaired a meeting focused on developing a study to launch a digital platform for agricultural marketing in Iraq. This initiative is set to connect farmers with both local and global markets, addressing significant infrastructure challenges and the current lack of transparency in pricing.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the proposed digital platform aims to provide real-time price data to reduce exploitation by intermediaries, ensure fair returns, and support small farmers. The platform will facilitate buying and selling processes, expand direct access to buyers, and mitigate financial risks through secure payment methods and reliable delivery guarantees.
This initiative aligns with the Iraqi government’s efforts and the Ministry of Agriculture’s objectives to achieve food security and digital transformation. It also supports sustainable development by improving supply chains and reducing waste, contributing to increased market activity and support for small farmers in Iraq.
