Cairo: With Iraq’s participation, the 52nd session of the Arab Labor Conference kicked off in Cairo, focusing on the theme ‘Sustainable Economic Growth: Towards Comprehensive and Equitable Social Development in the Arab States.’ The event saw the attendance of a delegation from the General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq, led by Sattar Danbous Barak, who is also the Deputy Secretary-General of the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions. Representatives from governments, employers, and workers were also present.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi delegation included Ahmed Al-Bunya, Director-General of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, who represented the government, along with a delegation from the Federation of Iraqi Industries. The participation underscores Iraq’s active role in Arab labor discussions and its commitment to monitoring developments affecting labor and workers.

The presence of the Iraqi delegation highlights the General Federation of Trade Unions in Iraq’s efforts to engage in dialogue on social and economic development and workers’ rights in the Arab region. The conference serves as a platform for discussing the future of work and the strengthening of Iraq’s role in shaping these discussions.
