Baghdad: Iraq led the OPEC+ alliance’s oil production increase in August, contributing significantly to the overall rise of 297,000 barrels per day. The recent OPEC monthly report, released on Thursday, indicated that the alliance’s total production reached 38.055 million barrels per day, an increase from 37.757 million in July.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, OPEC’s individual production rose by approximately 346,000 barrels per day last month, reaching a total of 24.081 million barrels per day, compared to 23.735 million in July 2026. This increase is a result of the production decisions made by Saudi Arabia and six other OPEC+ members to maintain their oil production policy unchanged through October 2026.

Iraq emerged as the top country in terms of increased production, with its crude production rising by about 664,000 barrels per day to a total of 3.378 million barrels per day. Kazakhstan followed with a significant increase of 159,000 barrels per day, bringing its total production to 1.807 million barrels per day.

The UAE also contributed to the production rise, increasing its output by approximately 54,000 barrels per day, reaching a total of 3.835 million barrels per day. Despite its withdrawal from the group, the UAE’s data is still included in the OPEC report as its membership officially ends only at the close of 2026, in accordance with OPEC’s internal regulations.
