Baghdad:The Executive Committee of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation has awarded Iraq the rights to host both the Gulf Cup 28 and the Gulf Cup for Olympic Teams.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Deputy President of the Iraq Football Association, Sarmad Abdul-Ilah, confirmed that the decision was made by the Executive Committee. The Gulf Cup 28 is scheduled to occur from December 9 to December 22, 2028, with the host city to be determined by a government decision.

Additionally, Iraq will host the Gulf Cup for Olympic Teams from March 21 to April 3, 2027. Abdul-Ilah stated that the Olympic Teams tournament would be held in Basra Governorate, while the location for the Gulf Cup 28 will be selected by the Iraqi government in coordination with the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation.
