Iraqi Army’s Fifth Infantry Division Launches Preemptive Operations in Anbar


Baghdad: The Fifth Infantry Division is conducting preemptive security operations south of the international highway and in the “Husayniyat” area of Anbar.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Defense detailed the operations conducted by the 5th Infantry Division under the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Chief of Staff of the Army. These operations aim to consolidate stability in the region, with units operating under the Anbar Operations Command.



The Ministry of Defense highlighted that the field operations targeted the Al-Sakkar area, located 6 kilometers south of the international highway, by a force from the 79th Brigade. Additionally, forces from the 20th Infantry Brigade swept the Al-Husayniyat area to track down terrorist elements and secure the sectors according to established reconnaissance plans.



The statement further explained that these operations are part of a comprehensive field strategy by the Iraqi Army units. The strategy is designed to pursue terrorist remnants, secure strategic and vital roads, and ensure the protection of citizens and public and private property throughout Anbar province.
