Baghdad: The head of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, Jabbar Jawdi, Director General of the Cinema and Theater Department, attended the play “I… I” this evening at the Al-Rashid Theater.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the play, written and directed by Awatif Naeem, is a visual and theatrical interpretation inspired by the world of King Lear. It provides a humanistic and intellectual exploration, examining themes of humanity and power, memory, and human relationships through a symbolic and aesthetically pleasing theatrical vision.
The performance attracted a large artistic and cultural audience. Jawdi praised the efforts of the cast and crew for presenting a theatrical experience rich in humanistic and artistic themes. He affirmed the capability of Iraqi theater to produce works that possess their own intellectual and aesthetic distinctiveness.
The play starred Aziz Khayoun, Ayar Aziz, and Lamar Mohammed. This production is a collaborative effort between the Cinema and Theater Department, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, and the Baghdad Theater Workshop.
