Baghdad: The Iraqi feature film “No Paradise for a Man Killed by a Woman” has been selected as Iraq’s official entry for the Academy Awards. This announcement was made by the Iraqi National Committee, which was appointed by the Ministry of Culture’s Department of Cinema and Theater to select Iraq’s contender for the Oscars. The film, directed by Halkawt Mustafa, will compete in the Best International Feature Film category.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee’s decision was unanimous, following a thorough artistic evaluation of eligible films. The selection was based on the maturity of the film’s directorial vision, as well as the integration of technical and visual elements that set it apart. The film’s unique narrative and human depth were cited as reasons for its qualification to compete in this prestigious international cinematic event.
