Iraqi Finance Committee Endorses 2027 Budget Plan for Permanent Appointment of Contract Workers

Baghdad:The Parliamentary Finance Committee has expressed its support for Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi’s plan to permanently appoint contract workers and daily-wage employees as part of the 2027 federal budget.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the committee’s chairman, Uday Awad, announced their endorsement and commended the Prime Minister’s directive. The plan includes the creation of 120,000 new public-sector job positions under the 2027 budget.

Awad stated that the new job positions would be allocated fairly among Iraq’s governorates, based on population ratios. An online recruitment platform will be set up to ensure equal employment opportunities for all candidates.

All members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee back the initiative fully, with Awad pledging to secure the necessary budget allocations and oversee the approval process as part of the 2027 budget. The initiative aims to expand employment opportunities for young people and enhance job security and economic stability in the country.
