Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council announced on Thursday its preparations to hold its first scientific conference next April.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Council stated that, under the patronage of Supreme Judicial Council President Judge Faiq Zidan, it is preparing to hold its first scientific conference on April 15-16, 2027. The conference will be held under the theme, ‘The Iraqi Judiciary Between a Century of Justice and the Requirements of the Digital Future,’ and will feature participation from Iraqi, Arab, and international judicial, academic, and legal figures.

The conference aims to review the most prominent legal and judicial developments and promote scientific research in the judicial field. Additionally, it will address the challenges facing the justice system amid digital transformation and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies.

The Council noted that the conference is expected to bring together judges, researchers, academics, and experts from Iraq and several Arab and foreign countries, as well as representatives of UN and regional organizations and international legal institutions. This gathering will provide an opportunity to exchange expertise and examine comparative judicial and legal experiences.

It added that the conference will serve as a scientific platform for dialogue and the exchange of views on the future of the judiciary. The aim is to produce recommendations that contribute to developing the judicial and legislative systems, strengthening the rule of law, and enhancing the efficiency of the Iraqi judiciary in line with the requirements of the coming phase.
