Iraqi Media Network and Ministry of Environment Discuss Joint Efforts to Boost Environmental Awareness


Baghdad: The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network (IMN), Thaer Al-Ghanimi, emphasized the importance of the IMN’s educational role in addressing environmental issues professionally. This was highlighted during a meeting with the Minister of Environment, Sarwa Abdul Wahid, where they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and employ media capabilities to deliver environmental messages to the public.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Advisor to the Speaker of Parliament for Media and Culture Affairs, Jaafar Al-Wannan. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Iraqi Media Network and the Ministry of Environment, aiming to support environmental issues and raise public awareness of environmental risks and challenges.



The discussions underscored the media’s role in highlighting national efforts aimed at environmental protection and mitigating the effects of pollution and climate change. Both parties agreed on the importance of using various media platforms to disseminate environmental messages to the public and promote awareness among citizens. This initiative is expected to contribute to the consolidation of positive environmental behaviors and encourage community participation in protecting natural resources.



The meeting also explored mechanisms to enhance cooperation and coordination between media institutions and government agencies concerned with environmental issues, which would strengthen integration among state institutions and support national efforts to tackle environmental challenges.



Al-Ghanimi highlighted the necessity for the Iraqi Media Network to fulfill its educational role by addressing environmental issues professionally and responsibly, showcasing relevant national initiatives and projects. The Minister of Environment emphasized the value of partnering with media outlets to deliver crucial environmental messages and enhance public awareness of issues impacting citizens’ lives and future generations.



Concluding the meeting, both parties agreed on the importance of ongoing coordination and cooperation to serve the public interest and support efforts aimed at building sustainable environmental awareness and enhancing integration among state institutions.
