Iraqi Minister Seeks Red Cross Support for Displaced Persons from Gaza and Lebanon


Baghdad: Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi has urged the Red Cross to enhance support for Iraq’s efforts to assist those displaced by conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting with a Red Cross delegation led by Ikhtiyar Aslanov, discussions covered the organization’s activities in Iraq, with particular focus on the challenges faced by displaced persons globally. Minister Al-Asadi emphasized the critical need for supporting Iraq in its initiatives aimed at accommodating and assisting the displaced populations from Gaza and Lebanon. He highlighted the longstanding relationship and ongoing coordination with the Red Cross, noting the mutual interest in expanding cooperation.

The minister also referenced recent developments concerning Iraqi workers, pointing out the benefits of the newly approved retirement and social security law, which ensures retirement rights for insured workers and offers additional privileges such as optional insurance.
