Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi affirmed that Iraqi-Turkish relations are based on historical and geographical ties and long-standing shared interests. A statement from his media office highlighted that Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi stated that the government is working to establish the Iraqi-Turkish Fund to finance investment and development projects in Iraq. He encouraged Turkish companies to expand their investments in the agricultural sector. The Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to implementing livestock development programs, enhancing agricultural production, and strengthening integration in production chains.

The Turkish Minister of Energy, for his part, emphasized his country’s recognition of Iraq’s pivotal role in the region. He noted that President Erdogan prioritizes the Development Road project due to its economic and strategic value. The minister expressed Turkey’s readiness to enter into broad strategic partnerships with Iraq across various sectors.
