Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) announced, on Monday, the marriage and divorce statistics for the month of August. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Council reported that the total number of marriage contracts in August reached 21,133, while divorce cases totaled 5,775 across all Iraqi governorates, excluding the Kurdistan Region.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the capital, Baghdad, topped the list for marriage contracts and divorce cases; the Baghdad/Al-Rusafa Appeal Court recorded 2,680 marriage contracts and 1,124 divorce cases, while the Baghdad/Al-Karkh Appeal Court recorded 2,339 marriage contracts and 1,113 divorce cases. They were followed by Nineveh, which recorded 3,365 marriage contracts and 645 divorce cases.
